Best Coffeemaker Ever: Cuisinart DGB-650BC

For several years I enjoyed a Mr.Coffee coffeemaker I picked up at Target. I thought I had found a good deal and acquired a reliable kitchen appliance I could depend on. Sure the old Mr.Coffee had its flaws: water leaked everywhere, the timer was unreliable, the coffee often tasted burnt from over heating, etc. But all coffee makers have those problems right?! I was so wrong, and I was accustomed to a using a poorly designed and inadequate coffeemaker. Fortunately for me that old Mr. Coffee died in December and that is when I was introduced to the Cuisinart DGB-650BC.

For about a month I've woken up to fresh brewed and delicious coffee from a machine that is thoughtfully designed and expertly constructed. The basic interface and straightforward functionality limit this machine to making coffee, a task at which it performs very well. The parts are resistant to dirt, easy to clean and of durable construction. Much to my surprise after years of Mr. Coffee, this machine doesn't leak water and the pot is remarkably easy to pour (and difficult to spill!)

I was initially worried that because the unit lacked a hot plate I would suffer from cold coffee by mid-afternoon. Boy was I surprised when I poured my first steaming hot cup from an 8 AM brew at 2 PM! I don't know what they made the thermal carafe out of, but this miracle pot keeps my coffee deliciously drinkable all day long.

Out of all my 2009 purchases, the Cuisinart DGB-650BC provided the most value and I count myself as very fortunate to find a holiday sale on Amazon.com. I highly recommend this machine to the coffee drinker that slowly nurses a pot of coffee throughout the day and enjoys a hot (but not burnt) cup from their morning brew.
