Graziano Is The Smart Choice for City Council President

The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that Councilwoman Kathy Graziano of the city's 4th council district has the votes to become the leader of the next city council. Says the RTD:

Graziano, one of three council members with interest in the position, said it's a very strong possibility that she'll get the two-year appointment in January, but she added, "We'll have to see how some things shake out."

Graziano, a retired lobbyist who is starting her third term on the council, is "real even-handed," 9th District Councilman Douglas G. Conner Jr. said.

"She runs a tight meeting," 3rd District Councilman Chris A. Hilbert said. "I'm impressed that she'll lead us in the right direction."

Graziano has proven her ability and energy during her three terms on council and she will be a strong advocate for all parts of the city. Additionally I can't help but think that having a mayor and a city council president from south of the river is a good thing for an area that needs far more city attention.
